Tenets for 30
One of my worse personality quirks is getting way too hype about starting something new only to very quickly burn out because I went all in too fast. I call it a quirk because if I called it a failing I’d get depressed. So in an effort to do this less, I’ve come up with a few guiding principles for how I’d like to approach my 30s. Since my birthday is on the 13th day of March, I came up with 13 tenets.
- Pray first
- Journal often.
- Reward wins.
- Pivot when necessary - don’t stay stuck.
- Acknowledge effort from yourself and others.
- Eyes on my own paper - don’t compare myself to others.
- Do one thing at a time - multitasking is a myth.
- Share before I’m ready.
- Don’t hoard ideas, act on them.
- Envision the best case scenario first.
- Don’t rush.
- Move daily.
- Don’t stay discouraged.
My hope is that by having these guardrails up I’m less likely to repeat some of the same cycles of behavior I’m known for. I think it just might work!(See tenet #10).
