I've Been... [Weekly Recap #3]
Happy Sunday!
Welcome back to my weekly recap. I've got a new title I'm testing out here and I think I might like it. We'll see if it sticks around.
Today marks the official end to my week-long staycation and I have to say I'm feeling pretty good about it. Usually I feel like crap and am super sad on Sundays and particularly on ones after a long weekend or vacation, but today I don't feel that way. Why? Not sure but I don't plan on looking a gift horse in the mouth so we'll just have to leave it at that. This week my husband and I enjoyed a mini honeymoon where we spent time with each other and checking off a bucket list of dates we've always talked about doing but never actually got to.
When we weren't having a picnic, strolling around the art museum, or making each other dinner, I was spending time reading a lot of really good articles! So below I'll be letting you in on some of the things I read, watched, listened to and played over the last week as well as 2 books I added to my TBR.
Let's get into it!
Best of everything I read
- There’s about 1 trillion pieces of advice on parenting, specifically motherhood floating around the internet at any given time. As someone who is consciously preparing for motherhood, I’m very selective about the information I take in and fully lean into the idea that not every source is a reliable source. But this piece from Mom Interrupted had me engaged and taking note from beginning to end. Particularly this point about giving more priority to the transition into motherhood instead of to our careers.
But if more of us financially prioritized getting off the hamster wheel and told our employers to fuck off instead of scrambling to meet their inhumane expectations — and particularly if more fathers started doing this — our country might finally start to take this life transition seriously.
When it comes to news about AI, you can go to just about any website and there’s an article waiting to expound on how it’s either rotting your brain, making your life better. In particular, there’s a lot of chatter in the writing community about ethical usage (if any such thing exists). So I was really surprised to read about an experiment run by an English teacher where AI was at the center. He finds out if his students need him or if a bot sufficient enough to teach them the basics of writing.
When something is on my mind, there doesn’t seem to be a shortage of related material to satiate my racing thoughts. This very long and personal account of a writer and first time mom’s pregnancy that went from normal to bed rest.

Games I've been playing
Last weekend I picked the Switch version Minami Lane on sale and finished the whole game in about 4 days. It definitely fit the cozy game bill for me, but I wish the game play had been longer. In the weeks to come I plan on doing another full play through of Wylde Flowers and pick up Cookulo to play in between.
Peace out!
